“Winter is not a season, it’s an occupation.”
―Sinclair Lewis

We are so very lucky to be in South Carolina where we can enjoy a much briefer version of winter than some of the other states in our great country. I don’t know about you, but I look forward to a respite from the heat. I wilt easily if it gets over the 80-degree mark. Not so my husband. My nickname for him is “The Lizard” because the hotter it is, the better he likes it. Sorry dear, but we will be facing a drop in the temperature for the next few months.

This winter issue is chock full of intriguing homes. We welcome one that is beautifully decorated for the holiday season, one that had a completely fabulous redo by its resident interior designer, a mid-mod house that was on a home tour this year, and a home that was designed for a family of four that meets all the exact details that they wanted. Thank you to all of them for their willingness to share their homes with us.

You’ll find some of your favorites: Winter Mood Boards by Audrey Gore, Trade Folio with numerous great tips on decorating splurges, Treasure about Museum Bees, and some yummy recipes using ginger in Pantry.

Ever dined in a barn? We have photos that will make you wish you could in our On The Table article. Taylor Montgomery, award-winning chef of Urban Wren, hosted a fantastic event which will have you drooling on the page. Not just for the food, but also for the ambiance of the location.

That’s just a tease of what lies within this issue.
To celebrate the holiday that is approaching, I offer this:
I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
—Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Enjoy!
