“In the winter she curls up around a good book and dreams away the cold.” —Ben Aaronovitch

Do you like to read? It may be rather obvious that I do. Since grade school I’ve been an avid reader of not only magazines (well, that’s a given!) but of good novels, short story collections, illustrated gardening books; i.e., almost anything that is in print. There’s something so gratifying about finding an item that someone has taken the time to write, print, and provide for you to pick up and enjoy. I’m confident that you feel the same way about atHome.

Since wintertime is a perfect time to cozy up and read, this issue is overloaded with three very interesting homes and a plethora of ideas to consider for your home. We offer a spectacular renovation of a Spartanburg home, a Greenville condo filled with art and views all the way to Georgia, and a Paris Mountain home designed by an architect couple for their family. All three homes have unique stories.

Thinking of a redo for your kitchen? Check out Periscope for a look at how a local homeowner revived hers. Also, look to Trade Folio for some fabulous suggestions about kitchen islands from some of Greenville’s best interior designers. Looking for a unique gift for someone who loves ceramics? Don’t miss Composition. Do you love collecting new decorations for your holiday tree? Learn about some very intricately designed items in Treasure. If an outdoor fire feature is on your dream list, don’t miss Outdoor Living for intriguing options.

Of course, there’s more for you to discover, so I’ll move on and let you find them. And get back to my reading. One last thing to keep in mind, though. Let’s make that three things. Have a very happy holiday season, look forward to a bountiful and peaceful New Year, and…

“People don’t notice whether it’s winter or summer when they’re happy.” —Anton Chekhov

Enjoy!
