If you’ve been craving a pool or are looking for new updates to your pool, now is the time to search the possibilities. We asked the experts at Genco Pools & Spas to find out what’s trending and what’s important when considering a leap.

Dive In with Genco Pools & Spas

What mistakes can be made when selecting a location for a pool?

One of the most common mistakes people can make in selecting a location for a pool has to do with water management and overall maintenance. Careful consideration must be taken when the slope of the yard may cause excessive water to run into the pool. Keeping in mind the highest point in the backyard will minimize the chances of the pool having to be elevated to keep unwanted runoff out. Furthermore, selecting a pool in an area where a lot of trees are present is sure to lead to a frustrating experience during the autumn months.

The biggest mistake, though, is not having your trusted pool professional out to look at your property to see if a pool is possible and assuming it isn’t based on size or slope!

What are some of the unique/interesting additions clients have requested?

It appears the popularity of the backyard cocktail pool has increased. More and more of our clients are interested in maximizing the limited space they have for a pool.

Unique features have been popular among these pools, such as a raised planter wall with a waterfall along the side of the pool or a cocktail pool with an integrated fire feature.

How can I update my existing pool and what are some of the newest technological advances?

An automation renovation is the best choice for updating your pool. It provides a much better experience and a safer environment. Options include remotely dimming LED lights, increasing the pump speed, starting bubblers, adjusting the chlorine and Ph balance, and turning on the spa heater, to name a few options.

Plus, this type of update will ultimately lower your power bill.
