In summer we find ourselves spending more time out of doors with a need to have something cold to drink to keep us hydrated. Instead of having a few bottles of cold water or your current favorite bottled beverage on hand, why not use a decorative vessel instead? That’s when a unique pitcher of something cool and refreshing will come in handy.
The pitcher has been around for centuries and was often known simply as a “jug” or “water vessel.” In years past, your option would have been an earthen jug. Not so attractive, but useful at the time. Thankfully, many designs and materials from which to choose can add a bit of history and pizazz to your table.
Our focus is on creative vintage or antique designs. They are available from sources such as The Rock House Antiques, where the items in this article were found. You can also find a plethora of eye-catching and reasonably priced pitchers online at sites like Chairish, 1stDibs, Etsy, and eBay.
When not in use, pitchers will add a decorative element to your kitchen or bookcase shelves. Using them as a vase works, too. Start a collection and display them in a prominent place in your home. They will add a touch of nostalgia and serve you with visually fascinating pours.
