If your garden isn’t ready, these garden decor pieces could be a lovely stand-in

Flowers have been welcomed into home interiors for a vast number of years. Of course, we would prefer to have live blooms and bouquets to display, but it isn’t always possible. A solution is to add some blooms that are made of different materials to your tables, shelves, or anywhere in your home that could benefit from a pop of color.

Artificial flowers have been around for centuries, starting in ancient Egypt, where linen and papyrus were used to form flowers. Rome utilized silk and gold thread to create blooms for special events. In 18th-century Europe, artificial flowers were made from silk as well. And in 19th-century America, paper and cloth joined the variety of items used to create lovely bouquets and fashion accessories. Today, most artificial flowers are made from silk, polyester, and plastic and have evolved to be almost indistinguishable from real flowers.

For a different approach, ceramic and metal florals are the focus of the array on these pages. They offer a different texture and quality of artistic value when compared to the artificial flowers that are made with fibers. Give them a place in your home. You won’t regret it.
