To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow. —Audrey Hepburn
I believe in the quote above. Audrey certainly got it right. Gardens have always been a necessity in my life, whether they be outside or inside. As you can see by the photo, we have a bit of a garden in our backyard. We also have a sunroom in our house, and it is chock-full of a variety of plants. Some offer flowers during the year—which is a delight—and some don’t. Gardens are the best way possible to believe in tomorrow. Something we all want to pursue during unusual times.
Summer is one of the best times to tend a garden. It’s also a good time of the year for prepping our homes with color, renovation, refreshed style, and beautiful things to experience every day. That just happens to be exactly what we have included in this issue.
Our feature homes are as diverse as can be. Each home has its own unique story and an enviable design aesthetic. The Trammell’s Lake Hartwell house has an interesting history and couldn’t be a more perfect home, not only to welcome large family gatherings, but also an ideal spot for “rest and retreat,” as the homeowner states. The Campbell home is aglow with art, color, and a multitude of clever adjustments to accommodate the needs of the family, all planned and executed with the vision of its owner, designer Amanda Louise. The Ford home had the insight of talented owner Kelly Ford to work through a renovation of the family’s dream home. It was a journey that was certainly worth the wait.
We have flower art from one of Greenville’s most well-known artists, dreams of a perfect landscape now under construction by the Madcap Cottage fellows, several fantastic eat and drink ideas from one of Soby’s finest chefs, lots of decorating tips, and a fun mountain town to visit with your pet. As if that’s not enough …there’s more!
Peruse all of our wonderful articles to your heart’s content and have a delightful summer. And remember—flip-flops make your toes feel like they’re on vacation.
Enjoy!
